The pull is long before it eventually gets to the sear. Once the take-up is taken care of, there is a hard pull followed by a decent break. As a battle rifle, the C308 has a heavy trigger pull weight. When I got my C308, it had plastic furniture. I located some original Cetme wood pieces, and refinished them. You may be surprised at how good yours looks under the bad finish. EDIT: You will also want to confirm that you have the proper bolt gap before taking it to the range.
